Most of the work we do is general painting and decorating, this is usually generalised by many as ‘emulsioning’ and ‘glossing’ but there is much more to it than the correct preparation and application.  For instance:

Emulsion

There is such a wide range of emulsions on the market from contract matt, vinyl matt, diamond matt – the list goes on.

The most important part is the knowledge on where and when to use these different types of paint according to the surface and environment they are to be used.  This is where our expertise and advice comes into its own.

Did you know that vinyl seals in water?  A lot of other decorators don’t and have painted this directly onto new plaster – forcing the paint back off the wall.   This is just one of the many examples we can give because we have often been contacted to provide a report on ‘what went wrong’ with another’s work.

We ensure that we are always up to date with new products and are often involved in new product testing and training.  So this in turn, means we can offer advice on all the latest trends and colours for every type of property.

Gloss

Satinwood and occasionally Eggshell paints are what we would always recommend for application to interior woodwork.

Undercoat and Gloss seems to be the name that spring to every one’s mind when painting wooden doors, window cills and skirtings but did you know that gloss paint starts ‘yellowing’ after a very short period of time.

This is why we use Satinwood and Eggshell as they keep their colour much longer.  Please note. We will undercoat and gloss if it is strongly requested though.

We also use a variety of wood stains, varnishes & lacquers  such as Dulux Woodcare, Sikkens, Valti etc and again, another area that we have vast knowledge and expertise.

With regards to any exterior painting, we will nearly always use the Dulux Weathershield range due to its great longevity and its flexibility.  Also, when we apply it, it’s guaranteed to last as being a member of the Dulux Trade Partnership Scheme guarantees the product when applied in the correct way.

Here are just some of the product brands we use on a regular basis:   Dulux, Glidden, Crown, Valtti (Tikkurila), Rustoleum, Sikkens, Zoffany, Farrow & Ball, Little Greene Paint Company & Sadolin.
